In collaboration with members of Design Advocates, BAAO developed a series of outdoor learning and gathering spaces for the garden at Concourse House, a transitional housing residence for mothers and young children. Conceived alongside art and design workshops for residents, the project explores how the senses can shape experiences of the outdoors.
The All-Weather Pavilion for learning and play uses filtered light to create changing patterns of shadow and color. Translucent resin elements suspended from the structure were made by members of the Concourse House community through a series of workshops. These pieces form a collective archive of the residents who have passed through Concourse House, embedding traces of their stay within the pavilion itself.
